Canada Opening Two Entry Pathways for Ukrainians and Prioritizing Applications

Thursday, 03 March 2022 by Kimo | TWA
“I am inspired by the courage Ukrainians have displayed as they uphold the democratic ideals that we cherish in Canada. While they defend themselves against Putin’s costly war of aggression, we will provide safe haven to those who fled to protect themselves and their families. Canadians stand with Ukrainians in their time of need and we will welcome them with open arms.”

– The Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship

BC PNP EI | Base category pauses new registrations for 2021

Monday, 19 July 2021 by Kimo | TWA
SINCE its launch in 2015, the BC Provincial Nominee Program Entrepreneur Immigration (PNP – EI) Base category has enabled foreign entrepreneurs to establish their assets in the province with a minimum investment of 200,000 CAD. On July 19, it was announced that the EI – Base category will temporarily pause the intake of new registrations.

The COVID-19 pandemic has allowed the B.C. government to pause and review the EI – Base category. The sole purpose of this temporary halt is to ensure the program continues to meet its objectives effectively, especially in terms of optimizing applicants’ success, supporting economic recovery, and creating jobs.

IRPR Strengthens Protection of Temporary Foreign Workers

Thursday, 15 July 2021 by Kimo | TWA

On July 10, 2021, the Government of Canada proposed a series of amendments to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR). The amendments address the necessity of enhancing the protection of temporary foreign workers, who may lack access to information on their rights. As a result, these workers may be rendered vulnerable to workplace exploitation and abuse. While the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) and the International Mobility Program (IMP) were devised to ensure employer discipline, there remain some gaps in need of adjustment.

Express Entry Issued Record Breaking Number of Invitations

Wednesday, 30 June 2021 by Kimo | TWA
So far, 2021 has been a year of mixed sentiments. With optimistic vaccine rollouts on one hand, and the fear of new Delta strains on the other. Need not to mention the ongoing economic recoveries, societal altercations, and many else. While these happenings occupy our attention, the Canadian immigration system undergoes some phenomenal, innovative transitions. The Express Entry (EE), invited a record-breaking number of candidates for the first half of 2021, and we will definitely perceive a perpetual rise for the latter half of the year.

BC PNP | BC government confirms PNP Tech’s permanency

Friday, 28 May 2021 by Kimo | TWA

On May 28, 2021, the British Columbia Provincial Government announced its decision to make BC PNP Tech Pilot a permanent pathway. The program is now renamed BC PNP Tech, a fast-tracked channel dedicated to compensate for the province’s technology deficit.

Since its launch in May 2017, the Pilot has issued over 6,000 invitations to tech professionals. Even in the face of COVID-19, the number of nominees exhibited a steady uprising trend. In 2020, the program invited 1,855 applicants, a 23% increase from 2019’s data.

B.C.’s ambitious launch of BC PNP Tech shows its determination to expedite its technological sector. Now that the program is permanent, business have the leeway to devise their recruitment for the following years. Thus, there is no doubt that we will witness an increase in B.C.’s technological competitiveness.

Permanent Resident Pathway | Alternative routes for international graduates

Friday, 21 May 2021 by Kimo | TWA
On May 6th, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has officially released six temporary to permanent resident pathway streams. Due to IRCC’s unprecedented lenient requirements, the stream for international graduates reached its cap in less than 24 hours.

The stream’s rapid closure caught many potential applicants off-handed, most of them have yet to apply. However, the good news is: international graduates who satisfy the minimum job hour requirements may still have a shot at the two workers’ streams.
