The Immigration Division now allows members to use E-signatures

by Kimo | TWA / Thursday, 26 March 2020 / Published in Daily News, Laws & Regulations, Refugee Matters, Temporary Residents

The Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB) has issued a new Practice Notice on the adoption of electronic signatures by the Immigration Division.

Effective March 26, 2020, an electronic signature can be used by members to sign their reasons for decisions and orders under Rules 11(2) and 11(3) of the ID Rules.

This change will allow for greater efficiencies during these unprecedented times, as well as contribute to the IRB’s modernization efforts in the long-term.

Please note that other important updates related to the operations of the IRB will be issued in the next week.
